History of Glenbrook, Nevada
The town of Glenbrook is the oldest town in Lake Tahoe. Glen brook begain its history as a community in 1860. It started as a lumber mill town after captain A.W. Pray built the lakes first lumber mill. for many years Glenbrook was the largest lumber manufacturing towns in Nevada, producing lumber for the mines in Virginia City. In 1896 Duane Bliss and the S.S. Tahoe made Glenbrook one of the most sought after resort destinations for the wealthy from all over the United States. In 1907 the Glenbrook Inn opened and guest from around the world enjoyed their stay on Tahoe’s East Shore. After many years Glenbrook remains one of Lake Tahoe’s premiere locations.
